Cyprinus rubrofuscus
Origin: Captive bred (Japan)
Budo Goromo is a deeper-pigmented Koromo variety of nishikigoi where the hi (red) markings take on a distinctive grape-like (budo) purplish overlay across the individual scales. This rare and elegant variety is sought by Dutch Nishikigoi enthusiasts for its complex, jewel-like coloration. The Goromo varieties are considered among the most refined and subtle in the koi world.
Requires a well-filtered pond of at least 2,000L. Maintain excellent water quality with regular filter maintenance. Feed quality koi pellets suited to the season. Reduce feeding as temperatures drop below 10°C; stop below 6°C. Provide good depth (minimum 1m) for winter. The grape-blue overlay intensifies with age in quality specimens.
