Brachygobius doriae
Also known as: Bumblebee Goby, Doria's Bumblebee Goby
Origin: Borneo, Indonesia
Brachygobius doriae is one of several bumblebee goby species from Borneo and surrounding islands, all sharing a striking yellow and black banded pattern. It is a bottom-dweller that spends most of its time perching on substrate or décor. Its live-food requirements and territorial nature make it best suited to an experienced keeper.
Water: 24–28 °C, pH 7.5–8.5, specific gravity 1.003–1.008; consistently low brackish. Tank: 40 L minimum; provide many small caves using terracotta pots, PVC pipes, or coconut shells. Feeding: Carnivorous; largely refuses dry food — feed live or frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, and Daphnia. Behaviour: Territorial micro gobies; males compete for caves; keep with a male-to-female ratio of 1:2. Compatibility: Species tank only; may be harassed by larger fish and will eat nano shrimp.
