About

Callochromis macrops is a sand-dwelling mouthbrooder from the sandy littoral zones of Lake Tanganyika, immediately identified by its disproportionately large eyes adapted for detecting prey in the substrate. Breeding males develop vivid blue, red, and orange colouration while constructing sandy crater nests. A maternal mouthbrooder best kept as a harem.
