Cambarellus patzcuarensis var. 'Orange'
Origin: Mexico — captive bred variety
The CPO (Cambarellus patzcuarensis var. 'Orange') is a dwarf crayfish from Mexico, selectively bred for vivid orange colouration. Unlike large crayfish, CPOs are small enough (3–4 cm) to be kept with most community fish and even larger shrimp. A charming and increasingly popular nano invertebrate.
Can be kept with fish and medium-large shrimp (not dwarf shrimp — will eat them). Provide small caves and hiding spots for moulting. Feed sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, and occasional meaty foods. Hardy in a range of water conditions. Keep one male per female — males can harass females.
