Carassius auratus
Origin: Captive bred (originally China)
The common goldfish (Carassius auratus) is the most widely kept pond fish in the world. Vivid orange colouration and the single-tailed streamlined body make it the ideal pond fish — hardy, long-lived, and active.
pH 7.0–8.5, temp 4–25°C. Overwinters safely in Belgian garden ponds under ice if pond is deep enough (minimum 80cm). Stop feeding below 10°C. Feed quality pond pellets spring to autumn.
