Neocaridina davidi var. 'Carbon Rili'
Also known as: Carbon Rili Shrimp, Black Rili Shrimp
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Carbon Rili Shrimp is a selectively bred Neocaridina davidi morph expressing a rili pattern in near-black coloration: dark, almost black pigmentation at the head and tail separated by a clear transparent midsection. This dramatic two-toned effect creates a striking visual impact in planted aquariums. Derived from Red Cherry Shrimp stock through selective breeding for the darkest color expression combined with the rili pattern, Carbon Rilis retain the full hardiness and prolific breeding tendencies of standard Neocaridina. They adapt to a wide range of tap water conditions and are an excellent choice for intermediate shrimp keepers looking for something beyond standard solid colors.
Water: pH 6.5–8.0, TDS 150–400 ppm, temperature 18–28°C; standard tap water acceptable. Tank: 20+ litres; planted with mosses and leaf litter; sponge filtration. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, blanched vegetables, shrimp pellets. Breeding: Prolific; rili patterning can vary in offspring; select for clearest midsection transparency. Compatibility: Peaceful; community-compatible; avoid fish that target shrimp.
