About

Caridina dennerli — the Cardinal shrimp — is endemic to Lake Matano in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its vivid deep red body covered in white spots makes it one of the most striking shrimp in the hobby. However, it has very specific water requirements matching the ancient, mineral-rich alkaline lakes of Sulawesi — opposite to most Caridina. It is an expert-only species requiring specific Sulawesi salt mixes and warmer temperatures. CITES compliance should be verified at purchase.
