Caridina multidentata, the Amano Shrimp, was popularised by legendary aquarist Takashi Amano as the most effective algae-eating shrimp. Large, transparent body with dotted lateral stripe. Grazes hair algae, thread algae and BBA. Very hardy. Pack of 5.
Temperature 18–26°C, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 4–14. Eats algae and bio-film. Feed algae wafers. Does not breed in freshwater (larvae marine stage). Hardy and long-lived. Add 5 per 50 L for effective algae control.
