Paracheilinus carpenteri
Origin: Philippines, Indonesia
Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse is one of the most dazzling reef fish in the hobby, with males performing elaborate courtship displays featuring extended fins and flashing red, orange, and blue iridescence. It is among the hardier flasher wrasse species, making it more approachable for reef aquarists. A single male kept with multiple females will regularly display the full breadth of its spectacular courtship behaviour.
Keep one male with 2–4 females to encourage regular flashing displays. Provide a well-established reef with ample open swimming space and a lid — flasher wrasses are known jumpers. Feed meaty foods including mysis, copepods, and frozen brine shrimp twice daily. Hardy once established but sensitive to sudden parameter swings.
