Marosatherina ladigesi
Origin: Sulawesi, Indonesia
Marosatherina ladigesi, the Celebes Rainbowfish, originates from freshwater streams on Sulawesi (Celebes), Indonesia. Its translucent yellowish body is accented by a neon-blue lateral stripe and long, filamentous dorsal and anal fin extensions in males. Active and fast-swimming; best kept in a species tank or with small, equally active fish. Surprisingly tolerant of slightly brackish conditions in the wild, though thrives in hard fresh water in captivity.
School of 6+. Temperature 24–28 °C. Hard, slightly alkaline water (slightly brackish optional). Good aeration and gentle flow. Feed micro-pellets, baby brine shrimp, and quality flake. 80+ L. Avoid fin-nippers.
