Cerithium sp.
Origin: Caribbean Sea, Indo-Pacific
Cerith snails (Cerithium sp.) are slender, spiral-shelled marine snails that serve as invaluable members of any reef aquarium cleanup crew. They burrow actively through the sand bed, aerating the substrate and consuming detritus, cyanobacteria, and film algae. Their small size and completely peaceful nature make them ideal for both nano reef setups and large display aquariums.
Introduce in groups of 5–10 per 100 L of water for effective sand-bed maintenance. They require no special feeding — they forage continuously for algae, detritus, and biofilm. Ensure adequate calcium and alkalinity for healthy shell development. Compatible with all corals and peaceful reef fish. Avoid predatory fish such as puffers and triggers.
