Apistogramma cf. caucatoides
Also known as: Cf. Caucatoides Apisto, Locality Cockatoo Apisto
Origin: South America
This Apistogramma cf. caucatoides form originates from a distinct Peruvian collecting locality and differs subtly from the nominal species in fin shape and body markings. Males still develop impressive dorsal fin extensions reminiscent of cockatoo feathers, though the details set it apart for taxonomists and collectors alike.
Water: 24-29°C, pH 5.5-7.0, soft to moderately soft (GH 2-8). Tank: 60L minimum, sand substrate, multiple caves, moderate planting. Feeding: omnivore — live/frozen bloodworm, Artemia; quality micro-pellets. Behaviour: territorial during breeding; single male with multiple females recommended. Compatibility: peaceful community with small tetras, rasboras, Corydoras.
