About

Cherax quadricarinatus, the Australian Blue Lobster or Red Claw Crayfish, is a large, spectacular crayfish with vivid electric-blue colouration and contrasting red claw markings (in males). One of the most striking freshwater invertebrates available, best kept in a species aquarium as a centrepiece specimen.

Care Guide

Species-only setup strongly recommended — will eat small fish and destroy plants. Provide large caves (terracotta pots or ceramic ornaments). Feed sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, and meaty foods. Moults regularly — leave old shell in tank as calcium source. Hardy in hard, alkaline water.
