Turbo castanea
Origin: Caribbean Sea
Turbo castanea is a smaller relative of the Mexican Turbo Snail, featuring a smooth, chestnut-brown shell with attractive natural patterning. It is an efficient herbivore well-suited to smaller reef aquariums where larger turbo snails would be disruptive to delicate aquascapes. Less likely to topple rockwork or knock over frags than its larger relatives.
Introduce in groups of 2–5 per 40 L for effective algae control. They require no targeted feeding and will graze continuously on film algae, coralline, and diatoms. Ensure adequate calcium and alkalinity for healthy shell growth. Keep pH stable above 8.1. Compatible with all corals and peaceful reef fish.
