Carassius auratus
Origin: Captive bred (Southeast Asia)
The Lionchu is a crossbreed combining the massive raspberry wen of the Lionhead with the arched back and tailset of the Ranchu. This red variety has exceptional wen development and excellent body conformation. Developed in Southeast Asia and increasingly popular among European goldfish enthusiasts, it represents one of the most refined and challenging fancy goldfish forms.
Provide excellent filtration — heavy wen growth and fancy body form makes these fish poor swimmers and heavy waste producers. Feed sinking or pre-soaked pellets; the wen can obstruct vision making surface feeding difficult. Keep only with other slow fancy goldfish. Clean, well-oxygenated water essential. Regular water changes mandatory.
