Sinibotia superciliaris
Origin: Southern China (Pearl River and other southern river systems)
Sinibotia superciliaris, the Chinese Zebra Loach, is a boldly patterned loach from the Pearl River and other river systems of southern China. Its striking dark reticulated banding over an orange-gold body resembles a miniature reticulated python. Social and best kept in groups, it playfully interacts with conspecifics. A cooler-water species that appreciates good flow and oxygenation — excellent for hill stream-themed aquariums.
Keep in groups of 5+. Provide good current and high oxygenation — from river environments with strong flow. Feed quality sinking pellets, frozen invertebrates, earthworms. Provide rocks and caves for territory. Cooler than most tropical loaches (18–24°C) — do not house with warm-water species. Will consume pest snails.
