Acanthurus pyroferus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
This listing features Acanthurus pyroferus in its chocolate-brown juvenile coloration — a non-mimicking morph displaying warm chocolate to orange-brown tones with subtle horizontal streaking. Juveniles of this species may alternatively present in the well-known lemon peel mimic phase. As with all mimic tangs, it requires a varied herbivorous diet and a spacious, well-established aquarium.
Provide ample open swimming space in a large aquarium with regular algae and seaweed feeding. Offer nori seaweed on a clip daily plus spirulina-based frozen foods. Keep as the sole Acanthurus in a tank unless the system is very large. Semi-aggressive toward conspecifics and similar-shaped tangs; introduce last.
