Aphyosemion christyi
Also known as: Christy's Killifish
Origin: Congo Basin, Africa
Aphyosemion christyi originates from the forest streams of the lower Congo Basin, where males display striking blue-orange speckled patterns. It is a plant-spawning non-annual killifish, depositing adhesive eggs on fine-leaved plants or spawning mops. Slightly more robust than some Aphyosemion species, it adapts reasonably well to aquarium conditions.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft to moderately hard. Tank: 40L minimum, fine-leaved plants and spawning mops for egg deposition. Feeding: Live/frozen micro-invertebrates; micro-pellets accepted by some individuals. Behaviour: Males peaceful toward other species; slight rivalry between males. Compatibility: Compatible with small, peaceful species.
