Chromidotilapia guntheri
Origin: West Africa (Côte d'Ivoire to Nigeria)
Chromidotilapia guntheri is a fascinating West African cichlid known for its biparental mouthbrooding behaviour — both parents hold eggs and fry in their mouths. Males display vivid red-orange bellies during spawning. Relatively peaceful for a cichlid, suitable for large community tanks with robust tankmates.
Keep as a pair in at least 120 L. Provide flat rocks and sandy substrate. Feed varied diet including pellets, frozen foods, and some vegetable matter. Moderately territorial when breeding; remove tankmates that are harassed. Soft to medium-hard water. Can be kept in West African biotope setups.
