Chromidotilapia kingsleyae
Origin: West Africa (Cameroon, northern Congo basin)
Chromidotilapia kingsleyae is a large, handsome West African cichlid from the Congo and Cameroon river systems, featuring warm golden-brown flanks with a prominent lateral blotch series and bright orange ventral coloration in breeding males. Like other chromidotilapias, it practices biparental mouthbrooding, making it a rewarding species for dedicated West African cichlid enthusiasts.
Keep as a bonded pair in a 200L+ aquarium with driftwood, rock caves, and subdued lighting. Feed varied omnivore diet. Soft to neutral water; regular water changes important. The pair will share mouthbrooding duties — one of the most engaging cichlid breeding behaviours to observe. Avoid mixing with timid or small species.
