Cichla kelberi
Also known as: Cichla kelberi, Kelberi Peacock Bass
Origin: South America
Cichla kelberi is a moderately sized peacock bass endemic to the Araguaia and Tocantins river systems of Brazil. Its three prominent lateral blotches and warm golden-green body make it one of the more attractively patterned Cichla species. While smaller than C. temensis, it still requires a very large aquarium.
Water: 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to moderately hard water. Tank: Minimum 700L, very strong filtration, minimal décor for open water swimming. Feeding: Large live or dead fish, prawns, earthworms, large carnivore pellets. Behaviour: Aggressive predator; will eat any fish that fits in its mouth. Compatibility: Species-only or with very large equally robust fish.
