Pangio anguillaris
Also known as: Cinnamon Kuhli Loach, Anguillaris Loach
Origin: Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra
Pangio anguillaris is a delicately patterned loach displaying warm brown tones with faint incomplete banding, giving it a cinnamon or tawny colouration. It originates from slow-flowing forest streams and peat swamps, and benefits greatly from tannin-rich, soft-water setups. Patient keepers are rewarded when groups grow confident enough to forage openly in low-light conditions.
Water: 24-28°C, pH 5.5-7.0, soft and slightly acidic, tannins welcome. Tank: Minimum 60 L, fine sand, leaf litter, twisted driftwood roots. Feeding: Micro-pellets, frozen cyclops, daphnia, small bloodworm. Behaviour: Gentle and undemanding; most active in low light or at night. Compatibility: Safe with all peaceful community fish and invertebrates.
