Synodontis decorus
Origin: Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo River system)
Synodontis decorus is a striking and well-known mochokid from the Congo River system, featuring a white or pale body covered in irregular bold black spots and a dramatically elongated dorsal fin filament that trails behind the fish like a banner. Juveniles are particularly attractive; adults remain impressive in large aquariums. Hardy and adaptable, suitable for community tanks with medium to large peaceful species.
Provide driftwood, caves, and dim lighting as daytime refuge — nocturnal species. Feed quality sinking pellets, algae wafers, and frozen meaty foods. Compatible with most medium-to-large peaceful fish. Keep singly or in small groups in large tanks. Hardy and disease-resistant; one of the easier large synodontis to maintain.
