Acanthurus lineatus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Clown Tang (Acanthurus lineatus) is one of the most spectacularly colored surgeonfish, displaying vivid horizontal blue and orange-yellow stripes from snout to tail. It is also one of the most aggressive tang species and should only be kept with robust, assertive tank mates in a very large, well-established aquarium. Its striking coloration and bold personality make it a prized specimen for experienced aquarists.
Requires at minimum 500 L of swimming space. Provide a rich herbivore diet with daily nori sheet and spirulina-based frozen food feeding. Extremely aggressive toward other tangs and similarly shaped fish — best kept as the sole tang in the system. Do not attempt without significant experience in large reef aquarium management.
