Chaetodon collare
Origin: Indian Ocean, Pakistan
The Pakistani or Collare Butterflyfish (Chaetodon collare) is a beautiful Indian Ocean species displaying a rich brown-red body with black-edged white collar markings and a distinctive white-bordered dark tail. It is one of the more adaptable butterflyfish and can often be trained onto prepared foods when acquired as a young specimen. Its relative hardiness makes it a popular choice for FOWLR aquariums.
Provide a large FOWLR system with varied rockwork. Offer a broad omnivore diet including mysis, frozen Artemia, coral food supplements, and quality marine pellets twice daily. Train onto prepared foods with live or frozen offerings first. Generally not reef-safe as it may nip at coral polyps. Best kept singly or as a mated pair.
