About

Lepidocephalichthys thermalis is one of the most widespread and commonly encountered spiny loaches in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Its series of dark blotches along the lateral line on a pale yellowish-tan body are attractive in a subtle, understated way. Hardy and adaptable, it tolerates a range of water conditions and makes an engaging bottom-dwelling companion in community setups.

Care Guide

Water: 22-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to moderately hard, gentle flow. Tank: Minimum 60 L, smooth sand substrate, caves and leaf litter. Feeding: Sinking micro-pellets, daphnia, frozen bloodworm, substrate grazer. Behaviour: Active and social in groups; forages near substrate through daylight hours. Compatibility: Fully peaceful; good with small schooling fish and shrimp.
