Microctenopoma congicum
Also known as: Congo Pygmy Bushfish, Pygmy Ctenopoma
Origin: Central Africa
Microctenopoma congicum is one of the smallest members of the Anabantidae from the Congo River drainage, reaching only around 7 cm. It is less predatory than larger Ctenopoma species and can be kept in medium community tanks, though it will still take small invertebrates and very small fish. It adapts well to a range of water conditions.
Water: temp 23–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: minimum 60L; planted with caves and driftwood for hiding. Feeding: carnivore — live and frozen invertebrates, small pellets; may accept quality flake. Behaviour: peaceful with fish of similar or larger size; predatory towards very small fish. Compatibility: medium community fish; avoid very small nano species and invertebrates.
