Copadichromis trewavasae
Also known as: Copadichromis trewavasae, Trewavasae Hap
Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa
Copadichromis trewavasae is a medium-large open-water haplochromine from Lake Malawi that inhabits pelagic zones above rocky reefs. Dominant males develop an intense overall blue colouration at maturity. Females and sub-dominant males are more muted. It is a peaceful species relative to other large Malawi haps and does well in a show tank with other similarly sized open-water species.
Water: 24-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5, hard alkaline with strong filtration. Tank: 300L minimum with good open swimming volume and rock structure at periphery. Feeding: Quality cichlid pellets and planktonic frozen foods; mysis, daphnia, krill. Behaviour: Peaceful open-water species; males display but rarely cause serious injury. Compatibility: Excellent with other Copadichromis, Protomelas, and other peaceful haps.
