Bodianus mesothorax
Origin: Western Pacific
The Coral Hogfish (Bodianus mesothorax) displays a bold bicolor pattern featuring a deep maroon to purple anterior half and a bright yellow-white posterior half, making it one of the most colorful hogfish species. It is a robust and relatively easy-to-keep wrasse that thrives in larger FOWLR aquariums. Like other hogfish, it is an active predator of small crustaceans and invertebrates.
Best suited to a large FOWLR system of 300 L or more. Will eat shrimp, crabs, snails, and small fish. Feed meaty foods including krill, mysis, and quality marine pellets daily. Provide a sand bed for sleeping. Not suitable for reef aquariums with invertebrates. Generally peaceful toward dissimilar-sized fish.
