Macrodactyla doreensis
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Macrodactyla doreensis is a distinctive anemone that buries its column in the sand while spreading long, spiralling tentacles across the substrate surface in vivid shades of red, orange, or pink. It forms symbiotic relationships with Ocellaris Clownfish and several other Amphiprion species in the wild. Corkscrew Anemones require a deep sand bed and high lighting to fully express their vibrant coloration and comfortable behaviour.
Provide a deep sand bed of at least 10–15 cm for the anemone to anchor its column. High-intensity lighting (LED or T5 HO equivalent) is essential. Supplement with small meaty foods 2–3 times weekly. Ensure all pump intakes are covered as anemones move freely. Stable water quality and consistent temperature are critical for long-term health.
