Trichogaster trichopterus
Also known as: Cosby Gourami
Origin: Southeast Asia
The Cosby Gourami is a distinctively patterned colour morph of the Three-spot Gourami, named for its mottled blue-grey marbling. It shares all the robust qualities of its parent species, adapting well to varying water conditions. Males exhibit territorial behaviour and should be kept alone or with non-gourami tankmates.
Water: temp 22–28°C, pH 6.0–8.0, tolerates a wide hardness range. Tank: minimum 80L; provide plants and décor to break sightlines between males. Feeding: omnivore — flakes, micro pellets, frozen and live foods. Behaviour: semi-aggressive; males may spar; one male per setup advisable. Compatibility: peaceful community fish with similar-sized tankmates; avoid fin-nippers.
