Trichopsis vittata
Origin: Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia
Trichopsis vittata, the Croaking Gourami, is a small labyrinth fish from Southeast Asia that produces audible croaking sounds by vibrating its pectoral fins, particularly during courtship and territorial disputes. Males are slender with attractive iridescent blue spotting on a beige body and elongated fin tips. This peaceful species does well in community tanks with other small, gentle fish and appreciates a densely planted environment.
Keep in a planted tank with calm or gentle water movement. Feed micro-pellets, daphnia, artemia, and small frozen foods. Peaceful and suitable for nano community setups. Keep 1 male per tank in small setups; multiple males can be kept in larger tanks with sufficient plant cover. Provide floating plants for nest building.
