About
Crossocheilus oblongus, the True Siamese Algae Eater, is the most effective fish-based biological control for black beard algae (BBA) and red algae in planted aquariums. Unlike flying foxes, the true SAE actively grazes BBA at all ages. Often misidentified in the trade.

Keep in groups of 3+. Temperature 24–26°C, pH 6.5–7.5. Supplement with algae wafers and vegetables when algae is scarce. Active, fast swimmer — tank needs a lid. Grows to 14 cm.
