About

The Crucian Carp is one of Europe's hardiest freshwater fish, capable of surviving severe cold and even temporary near-freezing in shallow ponds by entering a state of torpor. Its deep, bronze-gold body and rounded fins give it a handsome appearance in naturalistic pond settings. An excellent choice for wildlife ponds and conservation projects in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Care Guide

Extremely cold-hardy — survives temperatures from 1–25°C. Suited to wildlife ponds with native vegetation. Feed pond pellets in spring through autumn; no feeding needed in winter. Very hardy and disease-resistant. Can hybridize with goldfish — separate if pure breeding stock is desired. A native species of conservation value.
