Caridina cf. cantonensis
Also known as: Crystal Black Shrimp, CBS SS Grade
Origin: Captive bred (Taiwan/Japan lineage)
Crystal Black Shrimp SS Grade are among the most refined Caridina cantonensis pattern morphs, bred through generations of selective pressure to achieve solid, well-defined white bands with minimal bleed. SS grade denotes exceptional contrast and coverage, placing these specimens well above standard grade in visual quality. They are best kept in a dedicated shrimp tank with an active buffering substrate to maintain the soft, acidic conditions they require.
Water: 20–24°C, pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 100–150, GH 4–6, KH 0–2; active substrate essential. Tank: minimum 20 L, fine inert or buffering substrate, dense moss and leaf litter. Feeding: biofilm, baby shrimp food, powdered spirulina, sinking micro-pellets every 1–2 days. Behaviour: active grazers; peaceful, colony thrives at 15+ individuals. Compatibility: shrimp-only tank; avoid all fish; compatible with peaceful snails.
