About

Ctenopoma acutirostre, the Leopard Bushfish or Spotted Climbing Perch, is a strikingly camouflaged ambush predator from the Congo River. Its body is covered in brown spots mimicking a dead leaf. A labyrinth fish like the gourami, it breathes atmospheric air. Peaceful with fish too large to swallow but preys on smaller species.

Care Guide

Keep in a heavily planted tank of at least 120 L. Feeds mainly on live/frozen meaty foods — refuses dry food initially but can be trained onto frozen bloodworm and carnivore pellets. Keep with fish larger than 5 cm. Shy and secretive; provide dense plant cover. Soft, slightly acidic water ideal.
