About
Cyphotilapia frontosa 'Blue Zaire' is one of the most impressive freshwater fish in the hobby. This deep-water Lake Tanganyika cichlid develops a large cranial hump with age and displays striking white-and-black banding with a vivid blue iridescent sheen in the Zaire variant. Slow-growing but impressively large and long-lived.
Care Guide
Keep in groups of 6+ (1 male, multiple females) in tanks of at least 400 L for adults. Hard, alkaline water is essential. Feed meaty foods: carnivore pellets, frozen shrimp, mussel. Slow eater — feed at night after lights out as they are deep-water fish with low light tolerance. Peaceful with similarly sized tankmates.
