About

Cyprichromis microlepidotus is very closely related to C. leptosoma but is characterised by its smaller scales and slightly stockier body. Multiple colour morphs exist with males displaying varying combinations of yellow and blue. Like all Cyprichromis it is a pelagic maternal mouthbrooder best appreciated in large schools in tall aquariums.

Care Guide

Water: 24-27°C, pH 7.8-9.0, hard alkaline water. Tank: 200L+; tall tank with open upper-middle water column; light rock background. Feeding: Quality carnivore flake, micro-pellet, frozen cyclops or brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful shoal; males compete colouristically; females mouthbrood 3-4 weeks. Compatibility: Identical to C. leptosoma; compatible with most peaceful Tanganyika species.
