Pseudomugil tenellus
Also known as: Delicate Blue-eye
Origin: Papua New Guinea (coastal lowlands)
Pseudomugil tenellus is native to coastal lowland habitats in Papua New Guinea, where it inhabits shallow, slow-moving water among aquatic vegetation. Its translucent body and delicate build live up to its name, making it best suited to quiet, well-planted nano aquariums with minimal competition for food. One of the more specialised blue-eyes to maintain.
Water: 22–28°C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard; stable and clean. Tank: 30 L+ planted nano; gentle flow and good cover. Feeding: Omnivore; micro-foods, fine flakes, baby brine shrimp, and micro-worms. Behaviour: Gentle, delicate nano schooling fish; keep in quiet setups. Compatibility: Species tank or with only the most peaceful and small nano fish.
