Pseudotropheus demasoni
Also known as: Demasoni Cichlid, Demasoni Mbuna
Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa
Pseudotropheus demasoni is a small but exceptionally aggressive mbuna found only around Pombo Rocks and Ndumbi Rocks in Lake Malawi. Despite its small size, it is one of the most aggressive mbuna and requires overcrowding (12+ individuals) to prevent dominant fish from fixating on and killing subordinates. Its electric blue and black stripe pattern is striking and unique.

Feeding: Algae-based diet; spirulina essential; avoid protein to prevent bloat. Behaviour: Highly aggressive; must be kept in large groups only — individuals will be killed. Compatibility: Malawi mbuna community in large numbers; not suitable with peacocks or haps.
