Desmopuntius johorensis (formerly Puntius johorensis) is a strikingly patterned barb from the Malay Peninsula with bold black vertical stripes and a gold body. More peaceful than the common Tiger Barb and less prone to fin-nipping.

School of 6+. Planted tank with soft, slightly acidic water. Temperature 24–27°C, pH 6.0–7.5. Eats small live/frozen foods and quality flakes. Active mid-water swimmer.
