Scorpaena diabolus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Scorpaena diabolus — the devil or humpback scorpionfish — is a master of camouflage, blending almost perfectly with rubble and rock substrate. Its venomous dorsal spines are a defence mechanism used only when threatened. It is an ambush predator feeding on small fish and crustaceans. Despite venomous spines it is manageable for experienced marine keepers in FOWLR or predatory reef setups. Handle with extreme caution.
WARNING: Venomous dorsal spines — handle with extreme caution. FOWLR. Tank: 200+ L. Feed: meaty live or fresh-frozen foods. Ambush predator — eats small fish and invertebrates.
