Geophagus dicrozoster
Also known as: Dicrozoster Eartheater
Origin: South America
Geophagus dicrozoster originates from Venezuelan river systems and is distinguished by two dark lateral spots and rich blue-green iridescence across the flanks. Like all eartheaters, it requires a deep fine sand substrate and is best kept in groups. A true jewel for the dedicated cichlid keeper.
Water: 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.0, soft water preferred (1-8 dGH). Tank: Minimum 280L, fine sand substrate at least 8cm deep, driftwood and leaf litter recommended. Feeding: Omnivore; sinking granules, frozen invertebrates, and occasional live food. Behaviour: Semi-aggressive; males establish territories but group dynamics reduce aggression. Compatibility: Best with other robust South American species of similar size.
