Discosoma sp. (Red Metallic Mushroom)

The Red Metallic Discosoma mushroom displays vivid crimson-red colouration with a metallic, almost iridescent quality under reef lighting that gives it a jewel-like appearance. It is among the most attractive beginner corals available and shares all the forgiving care qualities of standard Discosoma mushrooms. Its bold red colouration provides excellent contrast against green and blue reef compositions.

Low to medium PAR (20–150). Gentle flow. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 24–27°C. Extremely tolerant of moderate nutrients and variable parameters. Will spread under good conditions — frag regularly to share. Avoid strong direct flow. One of the most reliable and rewarding first corals for new reef keepers.
