Liniparhomaloptera disparis
Origin: Vietnam, southern China (hill streams)
Liniparhomaloptera disparis is an unusual flat-bodied hillstream loach from the hill streams of Vietnam and southern China, with a streamlined profile and intricate spotted patterning adapted to a life in high-current environments. It grazes on algae and biofilm and benefits from rocky decor in a well-oxygenated aquarium with strong flow. Rarely seen in trade — a genuine gem for hillstream enthusiasts.
Requires highly oxygenated water with strong, turbulent flow recreating hill stream conditions. Provide smooth rocks, slate, and biofilm-covered surfaces for grazing. Temperature should be kept cool (18–24°C). Feed algae wafers and biofilm; blanched vegetables as supplement. Sensitive to poor water quality and warm temperatures.
