Cyprinus rubrofuscus
Origin: Captive bred (Japan)
Doitsu Showa is the scale-reduced form of the dramatic Showa variety, with black (sumi), red (hi), and white (shiro) patterns displayed on a largely smooth body. The combination of Showa's intense tri-colour patterns with Doitsu's clean skin makes for a particularly striking and graphic fish. A bold choice for collectors who want maximum visual impact in their koi pond.
Requires a well-filtered pond of 1,000L+. Maintain excellent water quality and seasonal feeding schedule. The Showa's black (sumi) can fluctuate seasonally — this is normal in young fish. Provide 1m+ depth for winter. Doitsu skin shows colour transitions clearly — particularly striking in clear water pond environments.
