Dot-dash Butterflyfish (Chaetodon pelewensis)

The Dot-dash or Sunset Butterflyfish displays a creamy white body marked with alternating rows of dots and dashes, a yellow posterior, and a vivid orange and black tail region. Moderately hardy among butterflies, it can often be trained to accept frozen mysis and quality prepared marine foods. An attractive and interesting addition to a FOWLR aquarium.

House in a FOWLR system and begin training onto frozen mysis shrimp — offer live prey first if necessary to stimulate feeding. Feed twice daily once established. Generally not reef-safe as it may nip at coral polyps and fanworms. Keep singly or as a mated pair. Peaceful toward unrelated species.
