About

The Doubleband Surgeonfish is a distinctive and less commonly kept tang from the Indian Ocean, recognizable by two dark bands near the caudal peduncle and its grayish-blue coloration with subtle patterning. It is a robust, moderately hardy species that does well in large reef systems with ample open swimming space and regular algae feeding.

Care Guide

Provide a large aquarium with plenty of open water for swimming. Feed daily with nori seaweed on a clip, spirulina-based frozen foods, and quality herbivore pellets. May be semi-aggressive toward other similar-sized tangs — introduce last or ensure the system is large enough for defined territories. Reef-safe with corals and sessile invertebrates.
