About
The Dragonblood Peacock is a selectively developed colour strain of Aulonocara, bred to express intense red, orange, and pink colouration reminiscent of mythical dragon scales. It has become one of the most popular and widely sold peacock cichlids globally. While a man-made strain, it is hardy and easy to keep, making it an excellent entry point for keepers new to African cichlids.
Care Guide
Water: 24-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5, hard alkaline water; quality promotes colour intensity. Tank: 200L minimum; standard Malawi hap/peacock aquascape setup. Feeding: Quality cichlid pellets and frozen meaty foods; colour-enhancing foods recommended. Behaviour: Standard peacock aggression; manageable in mixed hap/peacock community. Compatibility: Ideal with other peacocks and haps; one of the best beginner African cichlids.
