Betta splendens
Origin: Captive bred (Southeast Asia)
The Red Dumbo Ear Betta (also known as Elephant Ear) sports dramatically enlarged pectoral fins that spread wide like elephant ears, creating a breathtaking display when the fish flares or swims. The vivid red coloration covers the body and all fins uniformly for a bold, intense look. An extremely popular novelty form in the betta hobby for its dramatic visual impact.
Keep singly in a 15L+ filtered, heated tank with minimal current — the enlarged pectoral fins are easily damaged by strong flow. Perform 30–50% weekly water changes. Feed frozen bloodworms, artemia, quality betta pellets. Monitor pectoral fins for damage or infection. Avoid housing with fin-nipping species.
